This is an easy and cheap DIY homemade bug spray to repel all those nasty mosquito’s, tick’s, flea’s, gnats, even bed bugs!! This spray contains no harmful chemicals or DEET and is safe for your precious furry friends. It works just as good as the commercial products but smells 100x better and wont create the damaging side effects.

I live in the Midwest where the weather is all over the place, the humidity is terrible, and the bugs are even worse. This recipe is strong enough to keep the bugs that love me so much away, yet safe enough that I use it on my toddler. It contains natural ingredients like essential oils, hemp oil, and witch hazel. The oils I use in this mixture not only help absorb the ingredients but also moisturize your skin. This spray won’t leave you feeling sticky, greasy, or smelling of terrible chemicals. It has a light earthy scent that I love and the bugs hate!! This is the recipe I use for my dogs, as the oils I use in it aren’t on the list of oils to not use with dogs. I have another recipe that I use on my family for most day to day uses, but this recipe is just as safe for humans as it is for pups. If you’d like to see my other recipe you can find it here: https://youtu.be/K0SHJLCMteM

Ingredients you will need for this recipe include:
Distilled water, or boiled water if you don’t have distilled
Witch Hazel
A carrier oil, I used hemp oil, but you can use almond, olive, grapeseed, neem….
Eucalyptus essential oil
Lavender essential oil
Tea Tree essential oil
Peppermint essential oil
Rose Geranium essential oil

For this video, I made a travel size bottle that I can easily carry around with me. The bottle I used was 1 ounce. If you want to use a bigger bottle, it is easy to adjust the amounts. For a 4 ounce bottle (which is a popular size) just multiply the ingredients by 4. For an 8 ounce bottle, use 8x the amount.

As always, use your own discretion when using essential oils. There are many conflicting views regarding essential oils, so you must use what you feel comfortable with. All products used in this video are from Mountain Rose Herbs. They are a wonderful company with good ethics and principals over on the West coast.
